14 months old child, Master V. P., (Patient ref. no: L6619) was brought to the clinic by his parents for complaints of Childhood Asthma since 6 months. The child had started getting episodes of colds frequently that would end up in cough and breathlessness. He would get these episodes every month and they would last about a week to 10 days. His complaints would start with sneezing and nasal discharge that would be thick and yellowish. His nose would be blocked causing him to breathe through the mouth. His colds would settle in the chest and cause cough, with much chest congestion and rattling. Later he would land up with breathlessness, that would be relieved only with inhalers. His cough and breathlessness would be worse at night time especially around 3 a.m. His complaints would often be triggered by intake of a ragi (a type of cereal). He would be cranky and irritable during the acute episode. He had been on steroid inhalers for his asthma, which he would have to take 3 times daily.

He had also developed an allergic rash on the skin since few months that had been diagnosed as Atopic dermatitis. There were scattered, dry itchy eruptions on his skin.

His appetite was poor, but was fond of sweets in general. He would sweat profusely on his neck and head. He had no complaints pertaining to the stools or urine. His sleep would be disturbed due to the cough and breathlessness.

He would get irritable during acute episodes of cough and breathlessness and occasionally would get quite violent. Otherwise, he was a very cheerful and pleasant child.

There was no history of any major illness in the past and his health was otherwise good. His uncle had asthma and his grandfather and aunt suffered from recurrent allergic colds.

Based on the above history, he was prescribed Antimonium tartaricum 1M along with one of the remedies that has been developed at Lifeforce for the treatment of Asthma.

Within a month of starting the homeopathic treatment his need for inhalers had reduced significantly. He was able to stop the inhalers within a week of starting homeopathy. Gradually over a period of 8-10 months, his health improved very well. His attacks of asthma became much less and very mild in intensity. He would not require inhalers anymore and his tendency to develop frequent colds also came down significantly. After about a year of regular homeopathic treatment, his health was doing very well and hence his treatment was concluded. His mother was instructed to see us in case he developed any symptoms of cold, cough and dyspnoea anytime in future.
