Case 1: |
|
|
|
This is the case of Ms. G.A (Patient
Ref. No. S-5422), a 24 years old
female who reported to the clinic for her complaints of chalazion. She had developed chalazae over both her
eyelids and involving both the eyes in the last one year.
She had also undergone surgical excision of the chalazae
in the left eye in the past but she had recurrence of the
condition after a while. Later she developed chalazae in
the right eye as well.
She also had complaints of recurrent headaches since 5 to
6 years. She was a known case of prolapsed intervertebral
disc since 10 months. She would experience pain in the
lower back that would get worse from stooping and on
lifting weights. Apart from this she also had started
having excessive hairloss since the past few months.
She was a lean girl with an average built. Her appetite
was normal and she was fond of sweets and spicy foods. Her
bowel habits were irregular and she would be frequently
constipated. Her menstrual cycles were regular and she
would become very irritable and angry before her menses.
Her sleep would be sound and refreshing.
She was employed as a secretary in a company and was
staying with her husband and in-laws. She was very short
tempered and would get angry very fast. The least
contradiction from someone would provoke her anger. She
would get very anxious and irritable before her menses.
She also stated that she would get very suspicious before
her menses would begin. She would weep whenever she would
get tensed and weeping would give her some relief. Her
husband's job involved lot of traveling and he would be
off-shore for long periods and she would get tensed about
him too.
She had history of Koch's in the past and she had
completed the treatment for the same. Apart from this she
had been operated for the chalazion over the left eye in
the past, as mentioned before. On the family front, her
mother had hypertension, diabetes and asthma.
Based on the above history she was prescribed homoeopathic
medicines for her complaints. She was given a drug called
Staphysagria which was supported later by another one
called Sulphur. Within just 4 months of
homoeopathic treatment, her complaint of recurrent
chalazae was almost gone. The existing chalazae were
completely gone and she did not develop any new ones. Her
other complaints of migraine and backache were also much
better than before. Her hairloss was significantly better
in another couple of months. Overall she did very well
with the homeopathic treatment in all her complaints. She
was asked to discontinue her treatment after this as she
did not require any further treatment. |

Case 2: |
|
|
|
Mr. W.Z (Patient
Ref. No. 3522), a 49 years old male patient reported with
complaints of recurrent chalazae since 9 years. Every year
he would develop chalazion on either of the lids in either
of the eye and this would occur at least 2-3 times every
year. Initially these would be relieved by hot compresses
but later they stopped responding to the compresses. In
the last two years before he chose to take homoeopathy, he
had the chalazion operated 3 times but the condition would
recur after a couple of months even after surgical
excision. There would be no fixity as to where the
chalazion would occur and it would affect any of the
eyelids (sometimes even both eyelids) of either of the
eye. He was very much distressed due to this problem and
especially because he had undergone surgical excision 3
times but nothing would stop it from recurring.
His appetite and thirst was normal and he was fond of
barbeque ribs and steaks. There was no problem with the
urine and stools. He was a tall and slightly overweight
person with no other significant complaints.
He was an electronic technician and enjoyed bowling,
fishing and computers. He had a quiet nature and was
somewhat of a loner. He would get angry if people around
him would be rude. The major stressing his life at hat
time was that he was going to lose his job in the next 6
months. So he was very much worried about his
unemployment. This thought would worry him a lot and he
would also feel very sad and depressed about it. Whenever
he would feel sad and depressed he would try to engage his
mind in something more entertaining.
He had a history of surgery for intestinal obstruction in
the past apart from surgical excision of chalazion 3
times. There was no history of any other major illness in
the past. His father had complaints of aneurysm and there
was no history of any other major illness in his family.
The patient was on oral and topical antibiotics for the
chalazion and he had also received a shot of local steroid
injection for the same without much help.
He was prescribed a remedy named Silicea along with a dose
of another remedy called Thuja. The remedies were
prescribed in the 200th potency. At the end of 10 months,
his chalazion had almost disappeared and the best part was
that there had been no recurrence of any new chalazion so
far after starting the treatment. He was very glad that he
could be saved from surgery and at the same time the
recurrence of the chalazion could be arrested. He suffered
from a major setback about 6 months after improving so
far. At this time he started to develop another chalazion
on his right upper eyelid but that disappeared with
treatment for another 2 months and he did not require
surgery for it.
This case illustrates that certain surgical conditions can
be effectively treated with homoeopathy and surgery can be
avoided many a times.
Remark:
The remedy prescribed in these cases is
patient-specific i.e. it has been prescribed based on the
symptoms specific to the patient at that point of time. It
is advisable that the patient does not indulge in any
self-medication. |
