A 22 year old depressed house wife treated for Lichen Planus, recovered completely within 6 months of treatment

Mrs. M.K.D aged 22 years (Patient Identification Number 16142) visited the clinic on 30 May 2011 for the treatment of Lichen Planus. She was suffering from Lichen Planus since last three months. She was prescribed oral and local steroids by her dermatologist, however there was no significant improvement. Mrs. M.K.D presented with moderately severe Lichen Planus lesions on her hands, legs, chest, abdomen and back. She had active lesions which were rapidly spreading. The eruptions were reddish purple in appearance associated with severe itching and burning. The itching was followed with bleeding and oozing occasionally.

Her case was studied in detail.

She was a vegetarian and her appetite was diminished. She had craving for spices and aversion for milk products. Her urine and bowel habits were normal. Thermally she was more tolerant to cold; heat would increase the itching on the skin. She had scanty perspiration.

Her sleep was sound and refreshing. Her menstrual cycles were regular. She was tall and lean framed.

She was a House wife and her husband had a transport business. She was very gentle as a person. Her main stress was that her husband was preoccupied in expanding his business and was unable to give any quality time to her and the son. She was saddened with this situation but could do little to change the situation. She was very mild by nature and could never express her fears and worries with any one. Her mother in law was dominating in nature. Patient wanted the relation to be like a mother and daughter, but her mother in law never reciprocated the affections.

As a person she had a low confidence. She could not put forward her views and could never make any decisions on her own.

These personal stresses along with the skin Lichen Planus affected her deeply. Dr. Rajesh Shah studied her case details and prescribed her a constitutional medicine along with research based medicines.

At the 2 months follow up (27 July 2011) Mrs. M.K.D reported that the itching and burning sensation was much less. The Lichen Planus eruptions were flattening. The spread of the Lichen Planus has come under control.

At the 4 months follow up (17 September 2011) Mrs. M.K.D reported that there was significant improvement in her Lichen Planus and she was able to reduce the dosage of steroids.

At the 6 months follow up (5 Jan 2012) Mrs. M.K.D reported that the itching and burning had stopped completely. There were no Lichen Planus eruptions. The skin has started to clear up. She had stopped the oral steroids in the first few weeks itself.

Patient belonged to a small town, did not come personally, as she was cured; so we have no chance to take photos after treatment.
