This case study is significant, since it demonstrates the efficacy of Homeopathic medication in those cases were there is no treatment available in other systems of medicine.
Mr. S. N. (PIN - 17690) 46 years old male visited our centre with the complaints of oral Lichen Planus. He had developed these lesions a year ago. The lesions were present on both inner cheeks and also on the gums. He had a sensation of roughness in the oral cavity with a burning sensation while eating spicy food. He had consulted an oral surgeon and he had prescribed kenacort (an oral, local steroid), but he did not find any relief.
He had the associated complaints of frequent colds and sneezing once in 2 months for the past seven to eight months.
He was also suffering from high blood pressure and was on regular antihypertensive medication.
His appetite was average with no specific likes or dislikes. He enjoyed both winter as well as summer season. There were no complaints in thirst, urine, stools and sleep.
He was an employee of a chemical factory in Singapore. His wife was a home maker and he had 2 sons. Both the sons were studying, one in the 3rd std and one in the 8th std.
He was of a cool temperament. Off late he had become irritable. He was a bit stressed out due to his wife’s hysterectomy surgery; last year. May be that could have precipitated his oral Lichen Planus. His father was a hypertensive , other family members were healthy.
Dr. Shah prescribed him a constitutional remedy and a research based medicine after a detailed case study.
In the first follow up after 4 months, his Oral Lichen Planus was better by 50% , with the lesions decreasing and roughness reducing. His complaint of frequent cold did not find much improvement.
In the next follow up after 8 months his lesions had further improved and the roughness was almost completely better. In his complaints of frequent cold, he had 40% improvement. The early morning mucus was still persistent but in a reduced intensity.
In the next few follow ups the complaint of Lichen Planus were steadily improving with slight burning while eating spicy food and frequent cold was almost resolved. His photos were compared and they showed complete resolution in all the lesions of oral Lichen Planus.
This case study is significant, since it demonstrates the efficacy of Homeopathic medication in those cases were there is no treatment available in other systems of medicine. As Lichen Planus is considered incurable in conventional system of medicines.
