Chalazion since 10 months, increasing and decreasing in size

This is a case of Ms. V. V. (Patient reference number L7931), a 24 year old female who reported to our clinic for complaints of Chalazion on the left upper eyelid. Her chalazion was present since 10 months, increasing and decreasing in size. It was associated with watering of eyes and halo in front of her eyes when looking at bright objects. She had history of Herpes on the left eye 1 year back.
There were complains of pain in the abdomen during her menses (Dysmenorrhoea) radiating to the anal region and vice versa, remaining for 2 days, each time lasting for 4-5 hours. It was squeezing type of pain, which was better after lying on the abdomen. Her cycles were otherwise regular.

She was an averagely built girl. Her appetite and thirst was average and was very fond of sweets and spicy food. Her bowel habits were regular.

She was an MBA, working with a BPO. Her nature was quite sensitive and she would feel offended easily. She had sensitivity to the extent of weeping on little matters. She was staying with her father who was working in a company, her mother was a housewife. She was the only child and hence was always pampered and supported by her parents.

There was a history of Herpes on the left eye, 1 year back for which she had taken Allopathic treatment. She had no other major illnesses in the past. There was no significant family history of any medical illness.

She was prescribed Pulsatilla 200 for her Chalazion and this was followed with another remedy Thuja 200. Within duration of a year, her Chalazion reduced markedly in size and her dysmenorrhoea was controlled very well. She also reported of feeling much stronger emotionally, her sensitivity had improved.

This case illustrates that even surgical conditions such as chalazion can be effectively treated with Homeopathy and it is possible to avoid the use of the surgical knife in such cases.
