Complete Recovery From 18 Years Persistent Steroid-Dependent Bronchial Asthma Achieved With Homeopathy

A 33-years-old male, Mr. T. K. (PIN 24124) reported to Life Force clinic for his complaints of Bronchial Asthma on 14th November 2014. He was suffering from bronchial asthma from the last 20 years. His complaints were persistently increasing from the last 18 years in spite of using anti-allergic medicines, corticosteroid inhalers, and Deriphyllin tablets. Also, his relief from breathlessness was not getting better.

He had a severe dry cough with difficulty in breathing and severe rattling in the chest. His cough was associated with common cold and continuous sneezing episodes. He was also experiencing a watery discharge from the eyes. His discomforting condition used to get aggravated after the exposure to dust, the change of weather, and having cold drinks. He needed steroidal nebulization almost daily.

On auscultation, there were abnormal chest sounds heard which indicated bronchial tube blockage. His spirometry test and flow volume curve test showed moderate airflow obstruction.

His appetite had increased due to the intake of steroids. He was fond of spicy and fried foods. His water intake was moderate. He had an intolerance to the heat with moderate sweating. He had no problem related to the stool and urine. His sleep was disturbed with dreams regarding work and projects of constructions.

He was a talkative and extrovert person. He had a lot of anxiety about his illness and always elaborated his complaints. He was an architect with stress at the job, due to which he had become short-tempered. He was very attached to his wife and couldn’t bear her sufferings.

There was no history of any major illness in the past. His paternal grandfather and paternal uncle were diabetic.

Dr. Rajesh Shah studied his case in detail and prescribed the indicated medicines to the patient.

On 15th December 2014, he visited Life Force for the first follow-up. He reported that his asthmatic bronchitis was 50% better. He had stopped steroidal nebulization. He continued taking anti-allergic medicines and Deriphyllin tablets. His frequent colds and sneezing episodes had stopped completely. His dryness of the eyes had reduced. He continued with his treatment at Life Force and received medicines at timely intervals.

On 24th March 2015, he visited Life Force for a follow-up. He was much better and happier than earlier. His wheezing had reduced further. There were no episodes of a cough. Sneezing and common cold had reduced. On chest examination, his abnormal breathing sounds were scarcely heard. His nose block was also better.

On 28th July 2015, he visited Life Force clinic for the next follow-up. His relief from breathlessness was 70% better than earlier. There were no episodes of cold and cough. Rattling in the chest was much less. There was no watery discharge from eyes, but he still complained of dryness of the eyes. On examination, his chest was clear and no abnormal sounds were heard.

On 6th November 2015, he visited the clinic. This time he came with a slight aggravation in breathlessness since he had traveled extensively for his business. He reported that the attack was much lesser in the intensity and he didn’t take any anti-allergic medicines or Deriphyllin.

On 15th March 2016, he reported 95% improvement in his complaints. He had stopped taking anti-allergic medicines, Deriphyllin, and steroidal medicines. He occasionally took plain water steam. He no more suffered from breathlessness. He had even started exercising. He was routinely going to his construction sites for work. When his chest was examined, it was normal. His breathing capacity had also increased. His eye dryness had reduced significantly.

He was thankful to Life Force for his recovery and reducing his dependency on anti-allergic and steroidal medicines.

Conclusion:

This case highlights the efficacy of homeopathy in dealing with chronic steroid-dependent asthma. Homeopathic treatment helped the patient to get rid of the dependency on steroidal medicines gradually and achieve a significant relief.
