100% Recovery Achieved In Steroid-Dependent Palmo-Plantar Psoriasis With Homeopathy

48-years-old Mr. VBG (PIN 28470) visited Life Force Mulund branch for the treatment of palmoplantar psoriasis in May 2016.

He was suffering from psoriasis that was developing on his palms and soles 10-12 years back. His complaints increased 5-6 months before visiting Life Force. He suffered from multiple cracks on his palms and soles. His skin was thickened, hypertrophied, and very rough. Occasional scaling and itching were present on his palms and soles. He experienced a relapse of psoriasis in every winter and summer season and remission in every rainy season. He observed that his palmoplantar psoriasis used to increase after eating non-veg food. He mentioned that for each relapse he used to take conventional treatment and he would feel better temporarily. When he visited Life Force for the treatment, his disease was steroid masked due to the application of the steroidal cream. He was taking Tab. Methotrexate (7.5 mg) daily before going to bed and Tab. Folic acid once in a day, and he was applying Tenovate Cream (Clobetasol propionate) twice in a day.

The patient had associated complaints of piles. It was under control with Ayurvedic treatment.

He mentioned a history of extensive psoriasis on his abdomen, chest, forearms, hands, and legs 4 months back for which he took conventional treatment.

He had a past history of Herpes zoster one and a half months back and bronchitis 6 months back. His father suffered from eczema.

He would love to eat non-vegetarian food. He had craving for chicken and spicy food. He used to perspire profusely especially on palms, soles, and back. He used to take alcohol occasionally.

He was working as an office boy at Godrej Ltd. His wife was a homemaker. Both his sons were studying and his daughter was married.

He was very calm and timid personality. He would never express his emotions to anyone. He used to get nervous before talking to any new person or visiting any new place.

With all these case details, Dr. Shah prescribed his research-based medicines to the patient.

In the month of July and August 2016, there was an increase in palmoplantar psoriasis as the patient had stopped using Tab. Methotrexate (7.5 mg) and Tenovate Cream (Clobetasol propionate). This increase in disease was due to steroid withdrawal. There was an increase in cracks on the palms and soles. His skin had become more rough and hypertrophied. The patient continued the medicines prescribed by Dr. Shah in the prescribed doses.

In October 2016, the patient reported 25% improvement in his relief from psoriasis. The cracks present were lesser than earlier although roughness was there. The oozing from cracks had reduced. The itching was less as compared to the last follow-up. Dr. Shah prescribed further medicines to the patient as per the feedback.

In December 2016, there was a further improvement. As per the follow-up, there was 50% improvement in the relief from palmoplantar psoriasis after taking the research-based medicines of Dr. Shah.

In February and March 2017, the patient was happy as there was around 80% improvement in psoriasis. The cracks on palms and soles were almost better. Mild roughness was still there. The patient continued the medicines.

In May 2017, the patient reported complete 100% recovery from palmoplantar psoriasis. There were no cracks present on his palms and soles. He was free from dryness and roughness of skin. The patient was very happy with the improvement which he never witnessed earlier since he got psoriasis.

    Conclusion:

Psoriasis is a skin disease, which a lay person would obviously think of getting it treated by applying some form of local medicine.  Even though the expressions of psoriasis are external, it is a disease of internal, immunological system which manifests on the skin. The topical treatment is going to be short-lasting and superficial.

Homeopathic treatment for psoriasis aims at addressing the immunological factors responsible for its development and hence the results of homeopathic treatment are long-lasting.
