    Mr. R J.(Pin10685) 39yrs old consulted Dr. Shah for treatment of his colds. He was suffering from frequent colds for 5 months.

    The complaints would begin with discharge from the nose followed by violent sneezing which would lead to throat irritation and cough in some time. Whitish yellow sputum would come out in the cough. The patient would notice that every morning when he would wake up from sleep and go for his morning walks, he would have a runny nose and incessant sneezing with mild breathlessness. He would feel very uncomfortable.

    His colds were not associated with any fevers. This was diagnosed as allergic rhinitis.

    12 years ago, he had similar attacks which were treated with antibiotics. Whenever he would go to his hometown in winter, his colds would get worse. The slightest exposure to dust and an air conditioner would worsen his condition.

    In childhood, his tonsils were removed. For 15 years he also suffered from low back pains and morning stiffness.

    There was marked craving for chicken and eggs. He had an intolerance for cold food and drinks. The bowel movements were satisfactory.

    He was staying with his wife and a 4-year-old son.

    There was a lot of stress-related to work. He was a known case of Thalassaemia minor. His father had the same and his sister had recurrent coughs and colds.

    Dr Shah examined the patient. There were no significant findings. Based on his case details Dr Shah prescribed the indicated medicines for Mr R.J.

    In 6 weeks, Mr R.J. reported the sneezing was better by 50%. The runny nose was less by 20%.

    In 4 months, the patient gave feedback that earlier he would get massive attacks of colds once in a month which would last for at least 20 to 25 days. After treatment, his frequency of colds had reduced remarkably. The colds would now occur once in two months and would last for a week or so. The dependency on antibiotics was stopped. There was no breathlessness or discomfort. He would take his morning walks with great ease.

    In 8 months there was excellent improvement Mr R. J. was free of frequent colds. Once in a while, he would get the attack which would subside on its own.
