Case-1: Gynaecologist gets rid of her 24 years long illness and dependency on painkillers

A 37 years old gynecologist, Dr. H. D. (Patient Ref. No. L7012), reported to the clinic for complaints of dysmenorrhea since 24 years (since menarche). She had lower abdominal pain that would begin one day before her menses and last for about 4 days. She would get cramping pain in the lower abdomen and backache during the menses. Her cycles were regular and the flow would be moderate. The abdominal pain would be better by lying down on the back. She would require anti-spasmodic drugs and muscle relaxants to relieve the pain and these would generally have to be continued for 4-5 days during the menses.

She also complained of frequent headaches since the last 3-4 years. She would get pain in the frontal region of the head about twice every month. The pain would radiate to both her ears. She would also experience heaviness all over the head. Her headache would be markedly worse from sunlight, draft of air and noise. She would feel much better after sleeping.

She had an average appetite with marked desire for sweets and spicy food. She disliked aerated drinks. She was sensitive to cold in general and would be comfortable with warm weather. She had one son aged 14 years and it was a full term delivery by caesarian section. Her sleep was sound and she would dream of daily events.

She was employed with a hospital as a gynecologist and obstetrician and she lived with husband and son. She would get irritated easily but she would try to control it and would not to express it. She was very fastidious by nature previously but then she would try not to get irritated with others due to their lack of cleanliness or precision. She had marked anxiety about her son's health as he had some kind of skin problem. She was very possessive about her family and was very attached to them. Is anyone in her family would say anything wrong to her, she would start weeping instantly and would feel much better when consoled. She was fond of being in company. She loved to read and was very fond of music too. She would not prefer to share her problems with anyone except her close family.

In the past she had complaints of recurrent colds and typhoid once. Her mother had diabetes and hypertension and her brother had ischemic heart disease.

Based on these complaints she was prescribed Colocynthis 200 for a period of 2 months. She was more than 50 % better at the end of 2 months. The remedy was repeated for another 2 months at the end of which she was almost 75% better than before. She would no longer require antispasmodics and muscle relaxants every single day of her menses which would give her only temporary relief even otherwise. Thus overall she did very well with the homeopathic treatment and got rid of her 24 years long illness; at the same time getting rid of her dependency on painkillers.

Remark: The remedy prescribed in these cases is patient-specific i.e. it has been prescribed based on the symptoms specific to the patient at that point of time. It is advisable that the patient does not indulge in any self-medication.
