Homeopathy Treated PCOD & An Underactive Thyroid Effectively

A 32-years-old female, Miss. S. W. came to our clinic along with her parents. She was a known case of PCOD (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome) with the secondary amenorrhea along with an underactive thyroid. She complained of irregular menses, which used to occur after every 5-6 months from the last 12- 15 yrs. Her flow was moderate and lasted for 5 days. She was on allopathic medicines, which were hormonal treatment given by a gynecologist for many years, which gave a temporary effect and menses would regularise for a few months with it. She was diagnosed with an underactive thyroid as well. On the account of PCOD, she had started turning obese with a weight gain of 8kg in the last one year. Now, she was weighing 63 kg. 

Physical Characteristics: 
She had a craving for sweets. She was experiencing a difficulty in sweating. She couldn`t tolerate the heat and needed fan continuously. Her bowels were satisfactory. She had a strong family history of hypertension. Both her parents had hypertension.

Investigation Reports: 04-10-08: TSH: 7.93 increased suggesting hypothyroidism. T3: 144ng/dl T4: 7.70µg/dl LH: 12.08mlU/ml FSH: 6.05 mlU/ml Prolactin: 9.05ng/ml 
Pelvic sonography: polycystic ovarian disease 

Her family consisted of her father, mother and one brother. She was a very confident, clever, and expressive person. She was quite sincere, ambitious, and hardworking. She wanted to be topmost in her field. She was also reserved and emotional person. She used to feel depressed due to her illness. 

On the basis of above the case details, she was prescribed Natrum Mur 200C. Her treatment was started on 23rd August 2008. Thuja 200 C was used as an intermittent medicine. 

Within 4 months of the treatment, her weakness got reduced and her sleep improved. Her weight was reduced by 2 kgs. Her general condition was improved. Her thyroid status done on 13-12-08: T3:169 ng/dl T4:10 µg/dl TSH: 2.13 suggesting thyronormalcy. 

In the coming next months, she had menses every 2 months without taking any hormonal treatment. Her flow was moderate and used to last for 5 days. Her general condition was good. Her weight got reduced to 57 kg. USG pelvis was done on 13-06-09 suggested normal pelvic sonography.

This case illustrates that homeopathy is very effective in treating PCOD and an underactive thyroid condition.
