Master D.G., five years old patient from West Bengal (Patient Identification Number 19444) visited with parents for the treatment of ADHD on 13th July 2012. His father had read all the information on ADHD written by Dr Shah in our website so he decided to meet Dr Shah personally and start the treatment. At the time of first visit his case details were noted. His main complaints were restlessness, impulsive behavior and inattentiveness. He use to get angry very easily and used to start crying. His complaints were increasing day by day.
The child was hyperactive and restless and he could not concentrate on the given task. His appetite was moderate and he liked sweets and milk products. He developed his milestones normally but as he was an adopted child we could not collect family history. Dr Shah prescribed on the basis of totality of symptoms his constitutional medicines along with his research based medicines.
All his follow ups were given through our patient support system as he was a long distance patient. At his first follow up after 2 months his father described that after starting the medicines he was a bit more regular in daily studies especially in writing. He was 20% better in terms of concentration but his impulsiveness and restlessness remained the same. Dr Shah prescribed medicines with increased potency. At 6 months follow up his father was happy to report 50% improvement in terms of concentration and 20% improvement in terms of impulsiveness and restlessness.
This time his father mentioned the complaints of frequent colds on weather change. After considering the progress Dr Shah decided to continue with the same medicines. At 8 months follow up his father was very happy to report that his grade of marks had increased. Span of anger phase had reduced but he still used to get anger spells. Impulsiveness and restlessness were 30 to 40 % better. At 12 months follow up he showed around 40 to 50% overall improvement in terms of impulsiveness and restlessness and 60 to 70 % improvement in terms of concentration.
