Long-Standing Lichen Planus Successfully Treated with Homeopathy

This case is of   Mr. R C, fifty-five years old (Patient Identification Number - 27509 LFMPL), who visited Life Force on 12th October 2001. He came from Ahmadabad, Gujarat for the treatment of Lichen Planus. He was suffering from Lichen Planus since last two months. The lesions were present on lower extremities bilaterally and over genitals. Initially, lesions were small, flattened, but they were progressing rapidly and increased in size with intense itching and burning especially after a bath and at night. Initially, flattened lesions were red in color but soon turned into black. The patient was also Hypertensive and was on conventional medicines.

There was a positive family history of Diabetes mellitus to his father in the family, Thyroid profile was done and it was normal. All the other general parameters were in the normal range. 

He was currently on some immuno-suppressant in the form of local application and oral tablets since last few months. In the past, he had taken conventional treatment for a couple of weeks but that did not give any relief. 

General information
He had a normal vegetarian diet with a specific liking for sweets. He has increased thirst. He would perspire profusely on his forehead but, in general, he was very sensitive to cold weather. His bowels and bladder movements were regular. He had sound sleep with occasional dreams. 

Past history: He had jaundice (Hepatitis A and Typhoid. 
Family history: His Father had Diabetes Mellitus.

Dr. Shah went through the entire case and examined the existing spots, explained him flare up of existing spot after discontinuation of corticosteroids so advised him to continue with conventional medicines for few days then slowly withdraw it by tapering doses then stopped them and also he counseled the anxious patient. Dr. Shah prescribed him one of the research-based medicines to address Lichen Planus. He also advised the patient to stop using the immuno-suppressants at the earliest.  

Two months later patient visited for first follow up. He mentioned that the disease was stable, with no spread in old spots. Lichen Planus lesions over the bilateral legs were better.

On 27.06.2003 patient reported on the phone; LP lesions over the legs and genitals were further better with no new lesions, based on which Dr. Shah prescribed medicines.

On 28.09.2004 patient was almost free from the LP lesions. The patient said he was asymptomatic based on which Dr. Shah prescribed medicines for 2 months.

On 08.01.2005 due to increased stress LP lesions reappeared on genitals, which were painful and inflamed. There was a gap of 1.5 months in treatment by the side of the patient.
Based on which Dr. Shah prescribed medicines for 2 months. And advised him to continue the medicines for a longer period as it was the demand of the disease and asked him to upload the recent photos of the disease.

On 13.08.2005 patient reported on the phone that itching on the LP lesions had increased.

For the subsequent follow-ups, the patient reported on the phone based on which Dr. Shah prescribed medicines. He was stable as far as LP was concerned; it had improved by more than 90%.
At the end of 2004 patient was almost free from the LP lesions. The patient said he was asymptomatic and patient stopped the treatment.

After almost five years on 14 Feb 2010, he came with the new complaint of Eczema over the leg, scalp and forehead since one month with severe itching which sometimes ended into bleeding. He had taken immune-suppressant medicines with no results. Lichen Planus was completely better even after five years with no medicines. His younger son (age 11) had diagnosed as Type I Diabetes Mellitus so stress factor was more, along with another complaint like hair fall and constipation.

After two months patient reported on the phone. He mentioned that the disease was stable, with no spread in old spots. Eczema lesions over the bilateral legs were better. The itching was under control.

On 19 .07.2010 Eczema lesions were better by 40% on the scalp but lesions on the neck had no change. Itching had increased. The patient had used some ointment for itching, based on which Dr. Shah prescribed medicines for 2 months.

On 15 .09.2010 Eczema lesions were better by 90% with no itching and burning.

On 06.11.2013 patient reported that he had LP lesion all over the body since 03.11.2013 with itching and in Feb 2013 he was diagnosed with DVT in right leg so was taking conventional treatment for the same. Dr. Shah went through the entire case. After analyzing the case he prescribed his researched based medicines for two months and advised him to send the recent photo of the disease.

In the month of Nov 2013 lesions were so severe that patient went to a dermatologist, he gave him conventional treatment and with that medicines patient was better within 24 hours.

In Jan 2014 complaint had no change in condition. 

On 11.04.2014 Patient was very depressed that after four months of treatment no improvement was seen.

In Nov 2014 patient visited the clinic, LP lesions had improved a bit with Eczema on right thumb and on both legs seen.

On Jan 2015 LP had improved a lot only mild lesion were seen on the lower back. Rest lesions had gone completely

In June 2016 the patient was very happy to inform that he was free from the LP. The disease was stable and non-progressive. His old photographs were compared and his latest photos were clicked

In July 2016 patient went on tour for about one week which affected him a lot in regards to LP. New burps (flatted lesions) were started appearing in the center of the scalp, on both ears with intense itching. Lesions were progressing rapidly so the patient was very anxious about the disease so he started conventional treatment for the new lesions. Within a month or two the lesions got settled down.

In Oct 2016 lesions were almost gone. There were no new spots and itching. The hyperpigmentation also faded up considerably. The patient is very happy with the treatment and now almost free from LP. He is still continuing treatment to prevent recurrence.
