Chalazion is a soft tissue swelling, a tumor, which arises after stye. It is a swelling on the eyelid, either upper or lower eyelid.
A chalazion is usually secondary to some local inflammation or local infection such as a stye. The commonest cause of chalazion are as follows, please refer the link Causes of Chalazion

Sometimes a chalazion is confused with a stye, which is an infected eyelash follicle. A stye is a red, sore lump near the edge of the eyelid. Initially a chalazion may resemble a stye, but it will usually grow larger. Chalazia also usually develop farther from the edge of the eyelid than styes.
A chalazion usually responds well to treatment, but some people are prone to recurrences.
A large chalazion can cause astigmatism due to pressure on the cornea. This will resolve with resolution of the chalazion.
