Why is Psoriasis difficult to treat?
Psoriasis is a very complex immunological disease which is not fully understood. Multiple parameters play a role in development of this disease and this varies from patient to patient.

This immunological complex mechanism is governed by genetic factors and it is influenced by environment, stress, life style etc.

As the causes of development of   psoriasis themselves are very complex, the treatment of psoriasis is also extremely difficult. There is hardly any treatment which can be advised to fully correct the complex mechanisms behind psoriasis.

In order to treat the patient of psoriasis, one has to investigate all the above stated areas and plan the treatment accordingly. Most of the systems of medicine are not equipped to address all the complex causes of psoriasis in totality to treat this disease.

Homeopathy is somewhere close to treating the disease in totality; however, not always a sure shot therapy. The homeopathic approach involves the understanding the complete case analysis of the patient, understanding the case in terms of totality of symptoms and understanding the complex mindset and emotional state of the patient. After deeply studying the above criteria, homeopathic medicine is selected and given to the patient. This is called constitutional way of prescribing homeopathic medicines.

This way of prescribing is often found difficult even for the seasoned homeopathic practitioner.  This further makes psoriasis difficult to treat.

However, at Life Force, Dr Rajesh Shah, MD, has treated a few thousands of cases of psoriasis successfully over a span of 30 years. He has also invented new medicinal molecules for psoriasis which have received patents in the US, Europe, India.

Homeopathic medicines work by correcting the depressed immune system, addressing the genetic tendencies and boosting the natural healing mechanism of the body. Psoriasis, even if very severer and extensive, can find significant recovery using homeopathy. Also, psoriasis could be taken into a long symptoms free period or a remission, using homeopathy. However, it may be noted that we cannot say that after homeopathic treatment, psoriasis would never return. Due to the very nature of this disease, which is chronic and deep-seated, there remain chances that psoriasis could resurface again in life, depending on internal and external factors. Again, another course of homeopathic medicine could be then administered. It is noteworthy that homeopathic is very safe and free from adverse effects, unlike its counterpart medications such as those with using cortisone or methotraxate.

One of difficulties in homeopathic treatment is appreciation of the patient in the light of his lifestyle, genetic pattern and other medications. Every homeopath may not be professionally trained to understand this totality and relate it with suitable table indicated medicines. Also, homeopathy is a complex science and the professional homeopath must have deep knowledge and insight into various facets of the application of homeopathy.

Yet, another challenge in the treatment of psoriasis is posed by previous use of immunosuppressive medicines such as cortisone and methotraxate. I (Dr Shah) have written articles on this topic suggesting how such previously used medicine lead to complicate your psoriasis.
