Case-1: Chronic and relapsing case of Elephantiasis responded wonderfully with homeopathy in an elderly person
One of our patients referred an 80 years old patient for the treatment of Elephantiasis. He had this disease since his childhood. All his complaints had increased since the last 5 years.
He had developed swelling on both his lower legs since childhood since the last few years; he would develop cellulites every 2-3 months. Since the last few months, there was oozing of foul smelling fluid. He had severe pain, there was peeling of skin. He had severe itching and burning of the affected parts.
He would develop fever once in a year.
His case was studied in detail:
He was a retired businessman. He stayed with his wife and daughter. He had a very sharp memory for past events. He loves reading books and wants to keep himself updated about the latest events.
He was very successful in his business due to his eye for quality and punctual ness, and hardworking nature. He would never forget the name of any customer. He was of mild nature and was an expert in negotiations. He could outsmart any one he boasted. He had good relations with everyone.
He had a craving for spicy and sweet food.
His lower legs were swollen and hyperpigmented and there were signs of cellulites with oozing of foul smelling fluid. He was intolerant of summer and preferred winters.
Dr. Shah studied the case and after interacting with the patient and examining him, he prescribed Lycopodium 200C. Patient was followed up after every three weeks. He showed prompt recovery in each subsequent follow up.
The cellulites reduced and the itching and oozing also reduced. He the burning in legs also reduced. The hyperpigmentation remained for a long time. Within 2 months the cellulites healed up completely. The swelling of both lower legs reduced significantly.
This was a challenging case as it had not responded to antibiotics. It was relapsing and the patient was of advanced age with a disease which was very chronic. Still it responded wonderfully to the well selected remedy. The patient is being followed up since the last two years and he has not had a relapse of cellulites since the last two years.
