A Case Of Glaucoma Tackled Effectively With Homeopathy Alone
A 35-year-old male patient from Dubai, Mr. A.Q., a registered patient with Life Force Homeopathy (PIN: 23795) who is under the care of Dr. Shah for his Urticaria complaint, called up to discuss his recently diagnosed Glaucoma complaint in November 2017. Since 1991, he suffered from eye floaters (dots or specks in a person's vision), which he didn't take seriously. However, since October 2017, the intensity of having the eye floaters increased, so he consulted the ophthalmologist, who after proper examination found out that his Intraocular pressure in both eyes was higher than normal. The pressure in the right eye was 34 mm Hg and, in the left eye, it was 26 mm Hg (Normal range of eye pressure:12-22 mm Hg). Abnormally high pressure in the eye causes damage to the optic nerve, the health of which is important for good vision. His vision was intact.
After a detail evaluation of Mr. A. Q.'s case, as Glaucoma is a progressive disorder, Dr. Shah advised the patient to start Homeopathic treatment as a supportive treatment to help slow down or prevent the vision loss along with conventional treatment which comprised Xolamol (Dorzolamide and Timolol) Eye drops which his ophthalmologist had prescribed. But, the patient had a strong belief in Homeopathy and was not willing to start with any conventional treatment. It was explained to the patient that the pressure in the eyes can be kept in normal range with the Homeopathy, but the eye floaters complaint cannot be cured with any of the oral medicines (neither Homeopathy, Allopathy, not Ayurveda), and surgery is the only option for eye floaters, as the damage caused by glaucoma can't be reversed. Still, the patient decided to give a try to Homeopathic medicines to reduce the pressure and to control the disease. He started the Homeopathic treatment on 14th November 2017.
Such cases, of course, need to be under close observation and those who won't respond quickly need to be referred to a surgeon. As he was only on Homeopathic medicines, he was advised to keep on updating us about his eye pressure, and, also, if he won't respond within a month, it was informed to the patient that he might need to start with eye drops or his case might be handed over to the surgeon.
Other Complaints:
He suffered from Chronic Urticaria, which was treated successfully by Dr. Rajesh Shah. He also suffered from Cervical spondylitis.
Family History:
The patient father suffered from hypertension & hyperlipidemia, and his mother also had hypertension.
Physical Generals:
The patient had an average appetite and craving for non-vegetarian food. His thirst was less and he used to drink water only when it was given to him. His stools were satisfactory. The patient enjoyed a sound sleep. Thermally, the patient was hot.
Mind Aspects:
The patient was very affectionate and caring, particularly towards his children. He was quite expressive, adjustable, and an easy-going carefree person.
Prescription:
Dr. Shah prescribed Spigella-30 6 pills twice a day for 4 months, however, he was advised to report us within 1-2 months.
Follow-ups:
On 16th December 2017, there was a little reduction in the pressure in the right eye, as the pressure was reduced from 34 mm Hg to 26 mm Hg in his right eye. The pressure in the left eye was the same as before i.e. 26 mm Hg. Dr. Shah advised continuing with the same medicines.
After 10 months of continuous Homeopathic treatment, the pressure in both the eyes was under control. However, the complaints of eye floaters were as it is and stable, which means the progress of the disease was under control. Mr. A.Q. is happy with the results.
The following are the readings of the Intraocular pressure in both the eyes. (Normal range of eye pressure: 12-22 mm Hg)
Before starting the Homeopathic treatment:
The pressure in both the eyes on 8th November 2017: Right eye: 34 mm Hg & Left eye: 26 mm Hg
After starting the Homeopathic treatment:
The Intraocular pressure in both the eyes after starting with the homeopathic treatment is as under:
- On 6th December 2017: Right eye: 26 mm Hg, Left eye: 26 mm Hg
- On 10th January 2018: Right eye: 24 mm Hg, Left eye: 22 mm Hg
- On 12th March 2018: Right eye: 20 mm Hg, Left eye: 20 mm Hg
- On 8th May 2018: Right eye: 20 mm Hg, Left eye: 20 mm Hg
- On 18th August 2018: Right eye: 18 mm Hg, Left eye: 20 mm Hg
Conclusion:
The above case of Glaucoma illustrates how early diagnosis and treatment of glaucoma is the key to preventing vision loss and also helps in avoiding the surgery. Homeopathic medicines in some cases of Glaucoma can replace a surgeon’s knife.
