Homeopathy Conquered Mucocutaneous Junction Affecting Lichen Planus

A 55-year-old female patient, Mrs. S. (PIN: 39203) visited Life Force and started Dr. Shah’s homeopathic treatment for her complaint of lichen planus in January 2019.

She was suffering from lichen planus for 3 months when she visited us. The major complaint that was annoying her and making her feel highly uncomfortable was the severe itching. It was hampering her daily activities. The lesions were present on her forehead, back, neck, arms, chest, hip region, and both ears. Along with this, she was suffering from severe major illnesses such as uterine fibroids, gallstones, diabetes mellitus, and hypertension. She had suffered from oral lichen planus as well in the past.

    Physical Generals:

The patient’s appetite was average, and she had a strong craving for salt, spice, & sweets as well as all the extremes of tastes. She had a strong build. Her sleep was unrefreshing.

    Psychological and Family Make-Up:

The patient was a homemaker. She was staying with her husband, son, and daughter. Her familial environment was friendly. As such, there was no stress noticed in her life. However, she mentioned that, during her teenage, she was a victim of criticism, overthinking, & stressful life. Talking about her nature, she was gentle, mild, and sensitive.

    Personal Medical History:

She was suffering from a few major diseases along with lichen planus, and the diseases were uterine fibroids, gall stones, diabetes, and hypertension.

    At Life Force:

After studying the case in detail, Dr. Shah prescribed some research-based homeopathic medicines along with some dietary tips to the patient. The patient was also informed about tapering the dose of steroids and not stopping it all of a sudden as it can cause an increase in the disease symptoms.

    Follow-ups:

On 14th March 2019, when the patient reported for her first follow-up, she mentioned that she had experienced a mild improvement in the lesions. The itching and burning pain had reduced. A few lesions were still present on her forehead, back, arms, chest, and hip region. She was reducing the use of corticosteroids slowly. Overall, she was getting better. She was advised to consume vitamin supplementation as well along with the medicines.

On 23rd April 2019, the patient reported that she was further better with the medicines. Her relief in the complaints was almost 20% better now. The itching was quite minimal now. No new lesions had developed. The hyper-pigmented marks were still present, but the healing of active lesions was better. She had stopped taking allopathic medicines for a month and she was only on homeopathy. The patient was very happy with the progress.

On 11th June 2019, the patient reported an outstanding 40% improvement in her condition. The itching was very minimal by now. She had experienced immense relief in her symptoms. She mentioned that she had not observed any new lesions so far.

The patient continued with the treatment for more than a year or so.

On 7th September 2020, when the patient reported us for her follow-up, she mentioned that her condition had improved by 80%-90%. The itching and burning were no longer affecting her nor any appearance of new spots was observed. She mentioned that there was a reduction in the hyperpigmentation as well over the scars that were left due to lichen planus. Her disease was under control and she was filled with joy after being freed from corticosteroids.

On 7th August 2021, the patient reported 90% improvement and stability in the overall condition. She mentioned that the lesions of lichen planus have started lightening up and fading.

Besides this, the patient was suffering from varicose veins condition which was also treated well with homeopathy at Life Force.

The patient thanked Dr. Shah and the whole Life Force team for treating her and eliminating her dependency on steroids. She is still under treatment to get completely recovered from her disease.

    Conclusion:

This case illustrates that homeopathy is highly effective in treating lichen planus incredibly and safely without any adverse effects.

Now, you may be wondering why the patient was given such treatment for a longer duration, aren’t you? I would like to mention the following factors which this patient was dealing with along with this auto-immune condition.

She was on homeopathic medicines for a few months altogether and mentioned that she was stable with them. It took several months to show improvement in her relief in lichen planus because Mrs. S. was suffering from several other systemic diseases, and lichen planus was also triggered by many of these systemic diseases.

Now, let us have look further, in this case, one utmost important fact was that this patient had a rigorous tendency for over-growths; we understand this is by considering the pre-existing factor such as uterine fibroids, osteoarthritis, which is basically the accumulation and tendency of over-growth.

In homeopathy, sycosis is a term used for over-growths and accumulation, which can be accumulation on mental as well as physical levels. Hence, though the patient was having lesions of lichen planus on mucocutaneous junctions and though she was suffering from multi-systemic disorders, she could achieve a remarkable improvement in her relief in lichen planus with homeopathic treatment.
